After 2020 no one is a stranger to heartbreak. We are all sitting around waiting for 2021 to come in and clean up the wreckage from the past year, hoping for great things and praying this will be our year. I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve had a bad habit in the past thinking that the new year would mean I’d find my purpose and that this crazy magical thing would happen and life would just work out the way I wanted it to. By no means am I saying that being hopeful for 2021 is wrong, after 2020 we could all use some hope. But personally, I think I have been looking at “purpose” all wrong. You see, purpose is your journey, not a destination. Your character, personality, strengths, weaknesses, trials, and triumphs are your purpose. Jeremiah 1:5 reminds us that before we were ever formed in the womb, God appointed us a prophet to the nations. How powerful is that? You don’t have to chase purpose, YOU ARE PURPOSE. So yes girl, you have too much purpose to be in a relationship with no aim. Too much purpose to stay in a job that makes you unhappy. Too much purpose to be surrounded by people who conflict your moral values. Whether we are ready to admit it or not, we are all chasing something different. I chased my purpose for so many years and it wasn’t until the wreckage of 2020 cleared that I came to the realization I never needed to chase anything, God already appointed me.
